Nucleo Ventures launches a €34M fund to back startups across CEE

Romanian venture capital firm Nucleo Ventures, formerly known as Fortech Ventures, has launched a €34 million fund to invest in early-stage startups and SMEs across Central and Eastern Europe. Alongside the new fund, the firm has rebranded to reflect its ambition to support a broader range of founders beyond its original connection to software development company Fortech.

  • The fund plans to invest in around 46 companies over the next four years, focusing on startups from Romania and the wider CEE region. Initial investments will range from €200,000 to €1 million, with additional capital reserved for follow-on rounds.
  • Nucleo Ventures will target companies developing technologies across sectors including AI, cybersecurity, enterprise software, digital transformation, agritech, and healthtech. Beyond funding, portfolio companies will gain access to operational expertise, industry networks, and strategic support from the firm’s partners.
  • The new vehicle is backed by the North-West Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord-Vest) through the Regional Programme North-West 2021–2027, co-financed by the European Union. The initiative aims to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship in the region while helping founders scale internationally.
  • Nucleo Ventures builds on the investment track record of Fortech Ventures, which has previously backed Romanian startups including DRUID AI, Plant an App, MediNav, FieldOS, and KFactory.
