Swedish AI startup Opper secures €3M pre-seed from Lovable investors

Stockholm-based startup Opper AI, which builds a platform to make AI model outputs more reliable for business-critical applications, has secured €3 million in a pre-seed round. Investors include the backers of Lovable, one of Europe's fastest-growing AI startups, informs Sifted.

  • Opper was founded in 2023 by Johan Gustafsson and Göran Sandahl, the co-founders of Unomaly, an AI startup they sold to LogicMonitor in 2020. While Unomaly focused on detecting subtle data signals, Opper aims to make AI more reliable and secure for critical business applications, building on the same core idea.
  • Opper develops a platform that helps companies build reliable AI integrations using large language models. Its core product is a task completion API that allows developers to run and manage AI workflows with built-in tools for retrieval, function calling, agent routing, and prompt optimization.
  • The platform is designed to address the challenge of unpredictability in AI outputs by adding structure, evaluation, and observability on top of existing models
  • The firm supports multiple input types and integrates with various models through a single API, aiming to make AI more dependable for business-critical use cases.

Details of the deal

  • Swedish VC Luminar led the pre-seed round. Spotify alumni fund Greens Ventures and Paris-based VC Emblem, which are backers of Lovable, a Swedish AI-powered app builder nearing a $2 billion valuation, also participated.
  • Opper plans to develop its task completion platform to enhance AI reliability for critical business use, using the funding to build the product and expand its team.
