Notable Funding Rounds across the EU:

  • German foodtech startup GoodBytz secures €12M in Series A funding for its robotic kitchen assistants, aimed at addressing the skills shortage in the culinary industry.
  • German healthcare startup Lillian Care has secured pre-seed €2.4M. Nina Capital led the investment, with participation from Aescuvest, Caesar Ventures, OHA BTG, Calmstorm. The platform facilitates hybrid medical practices, alleviating the workload on physicians.
  • London-based AI platform Klu has raised $1.7M in a pre-seed funding round by Firstminute Capital, including a16z, Sequoia Capital, Craft Ventures, Atomico, as well as angel investors. Klu is providing tools for integrating AI into various aspects of business operations, allowing companies to harness the power of AI technology.

New Venture Funds:

  • Parisian Tikehau Capital has announced the first close of a €200M private equity vehicle focused on cybersecurity. This marks the largest dedicated vehicle for digital security in Europe.
  • France based Sofinnova Partners, a life sciences venture capital, has closed its Sofinnova Digital Medicine I Fund at €190M. The fund is dedicated to supporting innovative entrepreneurs navigating the intersection of biology, data, and computation.
  • Paris-based I4d Ventures has raised €16M for its Pre-seed fund, which will support startups in AI, climate, healthcare, and computer vision. The fund will provide initial investments ranging from €200k to €500k to founders at the pre-seed and seed stages from Europe.

Startup Funding Rounds & Acquisitions:

  • Romanian-founded Proportunity, a proptech/ fintech startup has secured €130M in a funding round that combines both debt and equity. The investment comes from Greek VC VentureFriends, Kibo Ventures, Anthemis, Amro Partners, and Entrepreneur First.
  • Poland's EcoBean, a sustainability startup, has secured €7M in funding through the European Funds for a Modern Economy (FENG) program. The company specializes in transforming used coffee grounds into sustainable bio-based materials.
  • Polish startup CTHINGS.CO has raised €4.5M to support its international expansion efforts in the field of 5G, IoT sensor networks, and cloud applications. The funding round was led by Orlen VC, PKO VC, Freya Capital, and Level2 Ventures.
  • Czech medtech startup Vitadio has raised €3M, with Theras Group and Jafam Holding leading the investment round. Vitadio is known for developing prescription digital therapeutics.
  • Lithuanian AI startup Repsense secures €1M in funding from Iron Wolf Capital, Coinvest Capital, and angel investors. Repsense's advanced text analysis tool is offering swift and high-quality analysis for business, public organizations, and state security.
  • Bulgarian startup Fabrico secured €680k backed by Vitosha Venture Partners, Sofia Angels Ventures, Innovation Capital and angel investors. Fabrico is designed to streamline and optimize maintenance processes in production plants.
  • Latvian biotech startup SpirulinaNord has closed a €600k led by accelerator Buildit, with plans to expand its biotechnology production facility and increase its production capacity.
  • Lithuanian regulatory technology startup, Micapass has secured a €240k investment to advance its crypto compliance tool aimed at preventing criminal funding for organizations. This funding round was jointly led by SUPER HOW? and FIRSTPICK.

Startup Calls:

  • Vestbee, based in Warsaw, has launched the CEE Startup Challenge, offering startups in CEE access to over 200 VC funds and up to €250k in investment. The challenge covers a wide range of sectors, from SaaS to Healthcare. Winners will receive substantial benefits, including infrastructure credits, an invitation to the CEE VC Summit 2024, AWS credits, Stripe credits, Mixpanel Growth Plan, and media coverage for the top three. Supported by various organizations and venture capital firms, this challenge is a remarkable opportunity for startups to gain recognition, funding, and access to influential investors.   • Aulers, a prestigious startup award in Poland, is open for submissions until October 31. The 13th edition seeks to recognize startups with international potential. A jury of top-class experts will evaluate entries, and the final gala is scheduled for December 13 in Warsaw.
  • Join sector 3.0 program by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation. It has a strong focus on promoting socially beneficial digital tools under the banner of #TechForGood. The program includes a 3-month training and consulting cycle to refine your idea and bring your digital product or service to life. This process involves creating a user path, value proposition, business model, and more. The incubation is followed by a presentation before the Committee of Experts, with potential funding of up to PLN 120k. Submit your applications by November 3, 2023.
