Ghent-based startup NineID, which automates contractor compliance checks, has raised €3.5 million in funding to expand across European markets, led by early-stage VC Pitchdrive.
- Founded in 2020 by Roy Jeunen and Frederik Keysers, NineID develops a contractor management platform designed to automate and streamline compliance processes for external workers.
- The system allows contractors, such as technicians, service providers, and subcontractors, to upload identification, safety certificates, insurance, and other documentation into a secure portal.
- NineID’s AI engine automatically scans, verifies, and stores these documents, significantly reducing manual administrative tasks for companies. Site and project managers can check compliance status in real-time through a centralized dashboard and integrate the system with access control tools to manage on-site permissions. This setup helps ensure that only compliant, verified individuals are granted access to sensitive or regulated worksites.
- The platform is used by major clients including BASF, Alpro, Pfizer, TVH, PSA, and A.S. Watson Group, and has handled over 2.4 million contractor verifications to date.
“Some businesses work with thousands of external contractors each year. To handle that volume, they often rely on large admin teams. Our platform takes that repetitive work off their hands. With NineID, verification usually takes just twenty seconds per person," claims Roy Jeunen, CEO of NineID.
Details of the deal
- NineID's €3.5 million funding round was led by Antwerp-based VC firm Pitchdrive, which backs angel, pre-seed, and seed rounds with investments ranging from €250,000 to €2 million, with participation from returning investor Entourage and new backer Aconterra.
- NineID will use the €3.5 million in new funding to accelerate its growth across Europe, preparing for stricter subcontractor liability regulations set to roll out from 2026. The company aims to expand its platform’s reach as demand for efficient, compliant contractor management tools increases under the evolving legal framework.
