Austrian startup Hololight secures €10M to enhance XR pixel-streaming

Innsbruck-based deeptech startup Hololight, which enables high-performance XR streaming from the cloud or on-premise systems to any XR device, has secured €10 million in funding led by Cipio Partners, with support from Bayern Kapital and Direttissima Growth Partners.

  • Founded in 2015 by Florian Haspinger, Susanne Haspinger, Alexander Werlberger, and Luis Bollinger, Hololight develops XR streaming technology that enables AR and VR applications to run on lightweight headsets by offloading rendering to cloud or on-premise servers.
  • The company’s core technology, built to address the limited computing power of XR devices, allows OpenXR-compatible applications to be streamed in real time, maintaining high performance and data security. Hololight’s tools are used by enterprises to manage, host, and deliver complex XR experiences without needing to adapt software for each device.
  • The company operates from offices in Austria, Germany, and the United States, and has over 150 international customers and partners, including Accenture, Engie, Procter & Gamble, and BMW.

Details of the deal

  • The funding round was led by Cipio Partners, an investment firm focused on European growth-stage technology companies, typically making initial investments between €5 and €15 million.

"Hololight's unique XR pixel-streaming technology opens up the broad application of AR/VR in industry and, in the future, also for consumers. With this investment, Hololight can not only further scale its existing business but also market its latest innovation, Hololight Stream Runtime, worldwide," claims Dr. Ansgar Kirchheim, Partner at Cipio Partners.

  • Existing investors Bayern Kapital, Direttissima Growth Partners, EnBW New Ventures, and Future Energy Ventures are also participating.
  • Hololight will use the €10 million investment to accelerate the global rollout of its XR streaming platform, enhance its core technology, and scale adoption of its new Hololight Stream Runtime.
  • The funding will also support deeper collaboration with partners like NVIDIA, Qualcomm, and Meta, as the company works toward making XR pixel-streaming a standard for AR/VR deployment across industries.
