Berlin-based startup Droidrun, which builds AI infrastructure enabling agents to control mobile apps on Android and iOS through natural language commands, has secured a €2.1 million pre-seed funding round led by Merantix Capital, with participation from SixtyDegree Capital and prominent angel investors.
- Founded in 2024 by Christian, Niels Schmidt, Nikolai Dück, Peter Lächner, and Timo Beckmann, Droidrun develops an AI infrastructure that allows software agents to control mobile apps on Android and iOS devices using natural language commands.
- Unlike traditional mobile automation tools that rely on visual recognition of app screens, which can be slow and unreliable, Droidrun converts mobile interfaces into structured text data that large language models can directly interpret.
- This approach enables precise and fast control of apps, effectively turning any mobile application into an API that AI agents can interact with consistently in real-world conditions.
- The technology is designed to automate complex workflows on mobile devices, such as data extraction, app navigation, and task execution, which has been difficult to achieve with existing solutions.
- Since launching just 10 weeks ago, the project has quickly gained traction, with over 900 developer signups on the first day, more than 3,400 GitHub stars, the top ranking on AndroidWorld performance benchmarks, and recognition as the fastest-growing mobile agent project.

- The investment was led by Berlin VC firm Merantix Capital, with participation from SixtyDegree Capital and angel investors Peter Sarlin, Philipp Langnickel, Mandeep Singh, and Felix Jahn.
