Luxembourg-based startup TerraSpark has secured €5 million to further develop its technology and prepare initial pilot applications and live tests.
- TerraSpark was established in 2026 by Jasper Deprez and Dr. Sanjay Vijendran. The company develops space-based solar power (SBSP) systems designed to generate electricity in orbit and transmit it wirelessly to Earth.
- The technology captures sunlight continuously above the atmosphere, where solar energy is constant and unaffected by weather or the day-night cycle. Solar panels in orbit convert sunlight into electricity, which is then transmitted to Earth as low-density radio waves. On the ground, specialized antennas called rectennas receive these waves and convert them back into usable electricity.
- TerraSpark’s SBSP aims to provide reliable, baseload energy in locations that are difficult or expensive to reach with traditional power infrastructure. Applications include remote islands, offshore platforms, mining operations, water desalination facilities, and critical infrastructure. Because generation occurs in orbit, the system can deliver electricity 24/7, minimizing reliance on batteries or intermittent sources.
Details of the deal
- The €5 million pre-seed round was backed by Daphni, Sake Bosch, better ventures, the Hans(wo)men Group, the Luxembourg Business Angel Network, and Karaoke Club.

- TerraSpark plans to develop its technology further, prepare initial pilot applications on Earth, conduct live tests, and lay the groundwork for space-to-Earth power transmission, starting with an orbital technology demonstrator in 2027.
