SOMAREALITY, a Vienna-based deep tech software company specializing in eye-tracking-based cognitive insights, has secured over €3 million in an oversubscribed Series A round led by Catalyst Romania, with participation from MT-Lab, RDY Ventures, Moondust Ventures, and Gateway Ventures, as Vestbee was told.
- Founded in 2021 by Adrian Brodesser and Michel Varilek, SOMAREALITY develops software that uses eye-tracking data to infer real-time cognitive states such as cognitive load, attention, perception, and fatigue.
- Its system integrates with existing eye-tracking hardware and processes gaze patterns, pupil dilation, fixations, and saccadic movements to generate digital biomarkers of cognitive performance.
- After a short calibration phase, the platform monitors users during task execution and analyzes the data to produce real-time cognitive metrics displayed via a dashboard interface.
- Designed as a hardware-agnostic solution, it is used across healthcare, aviation, automotive, and research applications as a non-invasive alternative to traditional neurophysiological methods such as EEG and fNIRS.
Details of the deal
- The funding will be used to scale commercial operations, advance longitudinal research into cognitive health and human performance, and support the development of a consumer-facing product aimed at expanding the technology beyond enterprise applications.
“At Catalyst Romania, we aim to partner with companies that don’t just improve what already exists, but rethink entire industries – and SOMAREALITY is doing exactly that. By turning eye-tracking data into real-time insights about how people think, they are opening up a new way to better understand the human mind, with impact far beyond current use cases," claims Alin Stanciu, Partner at Catalyst Romania.
