French startup Plume raises €3.3M to accelerate renewable energy projects

Plume, a Franco-American startup developing an AI-powered geospatial platform, has raised $3.9 million in a funding round led by AENU, with participation from Y Combinator, Kima Ventures, RAISE Sherpas, Better Angle, and Collaborative Fund.

  • Founded in 2021 by Edouard Labarthe and Marc Watine, Plume offers an AI-powered geospatial solution for renewable energy projects. The platform centralises over 150 continuously updated geographical and regulatory datasets, including zoning maps, grid capacity, protected areas, land parcels, building permits, flood risk plans, and municipal deliberations.
  • Plume’s system deploys AI agents to analyse these structured datasets alongside thousands of unstructured documents, providing developers with actionable site intelligence.
  • Users can query the platform in natural language to identify suitable land parcels, assess regulatory and environmental constraints, and evaluate grid connection potential. The platform also automates pre-diagnostics for more than 100 criteria, generating reports that previously required weeks of manual work.
  • By synthesising geospatial and regulatory information, Plume enables faster site selection, early detection of project risks, and more accurate assessments of construction feasibility. The platform is currently deployed in France, Spain, Romania, and the Czech Republic, with plans to expand into Italy and the United States.

Details of the deal

  • With the fresh capital, Plume aims to double its team by the end of the year, expand into new European markets, and develop the next phases of its platform, including enhanced stakeholder mapping, AI-driven competitive intelligence, and automated drafting of permit applications to accelerate renewable energy project development.
