Italian deeptech firm ORiS, which develops laser-based wireless power transmission systems for satellites, drones, and future lunar infrastructure, has secured €5 million in funding. The round was led by Earlybird and co-led by Pitchdrive, with support from Galaxia, Vento, and Piemonte Next Fund.
- Established in 2024 by Andrea Villa, Anna Mauro, Domenico Edoardo Sfasciamuro, and Francesco Lopez, ORiS develops laser-based wireless power transmission systems designed to deliver energy on demand to satellites, drones, and future lunar infrastructure.
- The Turin-based startup is building an in-orbit energy distribution network that uses space-qualified lasers, autonomous tracking, precision beam control, and optical-to-electrical conversion technology to transmit power wirelessly without requiring changes to existing spacecraft hardware.
- Its technology enables satellite-to-satellite energy transfer, in-flight drone charging, and wireless power delivery for lunar surface operations.

- The company also secured a €500,000 grant through the Piedmont Region’s Consolidamento patrimoniale e crescita delle start up innovative programme.
- With the fresh capital, the firm aims to accelerate the development of its laser-based wireless power transmission technology, expand its engineering team, and advance its vision of building in-orbit energy infrastructure for future satellites.
