Finnish cleantech firm Filtrabit raises €2M to accelerate global expansion of modular dust extraction technology

Oulu-based cleantech startup Filtrabit, which develops modular dust extraction systems that remove industrial microparticles and recover them for reuse, has raised €2 million in funding to expand its technology into international markets.

  • Founded in 2011 by Veikko Valli, Filtrabit develops industrial dust extraction systems for heavy industry. The technology uses flow-dynamic separation to remove microparticles from gas streams, allowing captured dust to be discharged continuously for reuse.
  • The system is modular and portable, enabling rapid installation without building permits and adaptable to different capacities. It operates continuously with minimal maintenance and can integrate sensors for monitoring.
  • Filtrabit’s solutions are applied in steel plants, foundries, mining, quarries, and material handling operations, where conventional filters are less effective.

Details of the deal

  • The funding round was supported by Ajanta Innovations 2 Ky, which invests in scalable, sustainable, and low-carbon technologies to drive the green transition.
  • Filtrabit will use the €2 million funding primarily to expand internationally, beyond Finland. The company plans to focus on markets in the Nordics, Central Europe, and India, while continuing to develop and deploy its modular dust extraction technology. The funds, combined with previous financing, will support growth, market expansion, and the implementation of their technology globally.

"Our technology has now been proven in practice in several applications in Finland and is ready to be implemented in operations globally," tells Dr. Kim Fagerlund, CEO of Filtrabit.
