Rome-based cybersecurity company Exein has raised $270 million in a funding round led by Headline, valuing the company at $1.7 billion.

  • Founded in 2018 by Gianni Cuozzo, Exein develops cybersecurity technology for connected devices, including robots, drones, industrial systems, and other machines that use AI to operate in the physical world. Its technology is embedded into device firmware and is currently deployed across more than 2 billion devices worldwide.
  • In December 2025, the firm secured €100 million in new funding led by Blue Cloud Ventures, with support from J.P. Morgan, to accelerate the development of its next-generation embedded runtime security technology.

Details of the deal

  • The latest round was backed by Sofina, Goldman Sachs, the European Investment Bank Group through ETCI, KfW Capital, and T.Capital, alongside existing investors Balderton, HV, Intrepid Growth Partners, 33N Ventures, Lakestar, Supernova Invest, Blue Cloud Ventures, and Geodesic Capital.
  • With the fresh capital, Exein plans to expand globally and develop AI-powered security solutions for physical AI. The company is also developing a foundation model designed to run directly on devices and respond to cyberattacks in real time.
