Valence-based deeptech company Dracula Technologies, which develops battery-free light-harvesting films to power electronic devices, has raised €30 million in a Series A extension round to pursue industrial partnerships for its IoT solutions.
- Established in 2012 by Brice Cruchon, Dracula Technologies develops organic photovoltaic (OPV) modules that harvest energy from ambient indoor light to power low-energy electronic devices without batteries.
- Its core product, LAYER®, is a thin, flexible film that converts light into electricity, enabling continuous operation of devices such as IoT sensors, asset trackers, and smart building or home systems.
- The company also offers LAYER®Vault, which combines energy harvesting and storage in a single film to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
- The technology relies on printed digital manufacturing techniques, allowing scalable production of OPV modules, with yields approaching 95%, and supports integration into diverse device form factors.
Details of the deal
- The Series A extension round was backed by Banque des Territoires, acting for the French State under the “France 2030” program, along with MGI Digital Technology Group, historical private investors, and the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund.
“The renewal of our trust reflects our commitment to supporting companies rooted in local regions while pursuing international ambitions. As an early partner, we are proud to see Dracula Technologies expand its industrial base in France, thereby contributing to the energy and digital transition at both the national and European levels,” said François Wohrer, Chief Investment Officer at Banque des Territoires.
- Dracula Technologies will use the fresh €30 million funding to quadruple production capacity, expand its workforce in Valence, establish new manufacturing closer to key international markets, support global deployment of its battery-free IoT solutions, and explore industrial partnerships to scale its energy-harvesting technology worldwide.
“I am very proud of this achievement, which wouldn’t have been possible without the commitment and hard work of our team, and the continued support of our long-standing investors, now joined by the EIC Fund. With this support, we will strengthen our industrial base in France, lay the groundwork for future manufacturing closer to key markets, and begin discussions with industrial partners to accelerate global deployment," claims Brice Cruchon, CEO and Founder of Dracula Technologies.
