UK-based defence technology startup Agon has emerged from stealth with $30 million in funding to develop virtual battlefields for training and improving autonomous defence technologies.
- Founded in 2026 by Tristam Constant and Junaid Hussain, Agon is building a “synthetic” battlefield platform that allows defence organisations and technology developers to design, test, and refine autonomous systems in simulated environments.
- The company aims to help customers prepare for modern warfare scenarios, including enabling counter-drone systems to practise responses against simulated drone swarms.
- With offices in London and Berlin, Agon has already established partnerships with European defence autonomy companies. The startup believes simulation and AI-driven training infrastructure will play a critical role as defence systems become increasingly autonomous.
Details of the deal
- The $30 million funding round was raised across two stages. Agon secured a $7 million pre-seed round led by Lakestar, with participation from 201 Ventures, D3, and angel investors. This was followed by a $23 million seed round led by XYZ, Lux Capital, and Northzone, with existing investors also increasing their commitments.
- The fresh capital will be used to scale Agon’s platform, accelerate product development, and expand its capabilities for European defence users. The funding will also support the company’s efforts to strengthen sovereign AI capabilities within the defence sector.
