AethexAI lands $3M to build voice AI infrastructure for Africa and West Asia

UK-based voice AI infrastructure startup AethexAI, which develops a full-stack voice automation platform for emerging markets, has raised $3 million in a pre-seed round led by 4DX Ventures.

  • Founded in 2025 by Mariama Diallo and Ayooluwa Odemuyiwa, AethexAI builds infrastructure for deploying voice agents in markets across Africa and the Middle East.
  • Its core system, Kora 1, is a suite of speech models (300M–1.7B parameters) trained on licensed conversational datasets from call centres, radio, and regional sources. The models are designed for noisy telecom environments and support multiple dialects and code-switching, with reported sub-500ms turn-taking latency.
  • On top of this model layer, the company provides an integrated platform combining speech recognition, text-to-speech, telephony, and workflow orchestration. Enterprises can deploy voice agents through APIs or a no-code interface, connecting them to internal systems for use cases such as customer support, KYC verification, onboarding, and collections.
  • The system also includes managed call infrastructure and analytics tools that evaluate every interaction for resolution, sentiment, and performance. The company says it is currently processing more than 17,000 calls per day in production.

Details of the deal

  • The round also included participation from Enza Capital, Dorm Room Fund, Mojo Ventures, and 26 Fund, alongside strategic angel investors including Stanford faculty, telecom executives, and AI researchers from Anthropic.
  • With the fresh capital, AethexAI plans to scale enterprise deployments, expand its engineering and go-to-market teams, and deepen product coverage across Africa and West Asia.
