London-based venture capital firm Headline, which backs early-stage technology companies, has closed its eighth European fund at $400 million to invest in Seed and Series A startups across the continent, with a focus on artificial intelligence.
- Founded in 1999, Headline manages more than $5 billion in assets and invests from Seed through Growth through its global platform. The firm operates dedicated investment teams across Europe, the US, Latin America, and Asia.
- The firm’s European portfolio includes Mistral AI, Black Forest Labs, Fundamental Technologies, Attio, Bioptimus, AMI Labs, Recursive Superintelligence, Farfetch, Raisin, Natural Cycles, Staffbase, DeepIP, Payflows, Primo, Searchable, Notch, and Procure AI.
- Headline first invested in Mistral at the Seed stage in 2023, shortly after the company was founded, and has participated in subsequent funding rounds, including its latest Series D through Headline’s Global Growth Fund.
- Headline EU VIII will back European startups at the Seed and Series A stages, with the firm placing particular emphasis on the region’s growing AI ecosystem. The new fund builds on Headline’s more than two decades of investing in European technology companies.
- With the fresh capital, Headline plans to partner with European founders from the earliest stages and support their international expansion through the firm’s global network. Headline said it can support companies from their first institutional rounds through larger growth financings, with its $900 million Growth Fund providing follow-on capital for later-stage companies.
