Czech Purple Ventures invests €1.3M in AI retail stratup TASS Vision

Uzbekistan-based startup TASS Vision, which uses AI-powered video analysis to revolutionize how retailers track and optimize customer journeys, has raised €1.3 million to support growth and global expansion, as Vestbee was told.

  • TASS Vision was founded in 2021 by Shakhzod Umirzakov and Jamshidjon Khakimjonov. The company develops AI-powered video analysis technology designed to help retailers track and optimize customer behavior within physical stores.
  • The firm's core products, Vitrac and Sitrac, run on proprietary edge AI cameras that process data directly on the device, ensuring customer privacy by avoiding cloud data transfers.
  • The technology enables retailers to monitor complete customer journeys in real time, optimize product placement, and measure in-store marketing effectiveness.
  • TASS Vision operates in over 2,000 stores across ten countries and serves clients in various sectors, including electronics, fashion, FMCG, and pharmaceuticals.

“We help retailers run performance marketing – not online, but right on the shop floor. The data shows that many of our clients have increased revenue and reduced operational costs. Our goal isn’t just to automate retail, but to create a new data standard for the entire offline world,” claims Shakhzod Umirzakov, co-founder at TASS Vision.

Details of the deal

  • The investment round was led by Brno-based Purple Ventures, which contributed €500,000. In 2024, the firm launched its second fund, totaling €40 million. The firm plans to continue its investment strategy by focusing on startups in the CEE region with teams across the European Union.

“We believe the combination of edge AI and retail will be one of the defining trends of the coming years, and TASS Vision is well-positioned to become a leader in this category. That’s why we didn’t hesitate to invest, even in faraway Uzbekistan, becoming the first fund from our region to do so," Partner at Purple Ventures, Jan Davídek, commented in a press release.

  • The remaining amount of the total €1.3 million funding came from other investors, including Domino VC, Pragma Tech VC, Sabah Fund, Caucasus VC, Big Sky Capital, and IT Park VC.
  • TASS Vision will use the fresh capital to accelerate the development of its next-generation AI cameras, making them faster, more energy-efficient, and easier to install for global deployment. This investment will enable the company to strengthen its technology and expand its international presence.
