Polish VC firm Movens Capital launches €60M fund to back CEE founders

Warsaw-based VC firm Movens Capital has launched a €60 million multi-stage fund to invest in founders from Central and Eastern Europe. As of Q2 2025, it has achieved a €40 million close, as Vestbee was told.

  • Founded in 2018, Movens Capital is a multi-stage venture capital firm backing startups from CEE at pre-seed to Series A stages.
  • In 2020, it launched its first €15 million fund and invested in companies such as Alokai, Packhelp, SKY ENGINE AI, and Talkie.ai. According to Movens, its portfolio has raised over €110 million in follow-on funding — more than eight times the size of the original fund.
  • The new fund aims to invest in 30 tech startups and scaleups from Poland, the Balkans, the Baltic states, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, and Moldova — including those founded by diaspora entrepreneurs with global ambitions.
  • Fund II will focus on companies at the pre-seed, seed, and Series A+ stages, with plans to lead most of the funding rounds. Ticket sizes will range from €250,000 to €3 million.
  • Over 80 investors, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), PFR Ventures, startup founders and experienced entrepreneurs, more than 40 tech operators, have supported the fund.

"This region never lacked talent.  What’s missing is the capital and operational support needed to turn early traction into global  growth. Movens Capital is the launch pad for ambitious CEE founders aiming for global  leadership. As former tech entrepreneurs, we actively support portfolio companies with  meaningful operational expertise and strategic guidance," Managing Partner at Movens Capital, Artur Banach, commented in a press release.

  • With Fund II, Movens Capital seeks to fill the region’s funding gap. In 2024, VC investment in CEE dropped by 23%, while the number of transactions fell by over 70% compared to 2022. Movens plans to achieve this by investing in enterprise software, climate tech, fintech, healthcare, e-commerce infrastructure, and future-of-work sectors, with additional emphasis on supporting AI projects.
