Nice-based startup Cosma, which maps and monitors seafloor ecosystems using underwater drones and AI, has secured €2.5 million in funding co-led by Wind and Ternel, with support from 50 Partners.
- Founded in 2022 by Yannick Penneçot and Frédéric Mittaine, Cosma develops autonomous underwater drones and an AI-powered cloud platform to map, monitor, and analyze benthic ecosystems.
- The company combines coordinated seafloor data collection, using swarms of drones operating at depths up to 200 meters, with photogrammetric reconstruction and species detection tools.
- Once raw data is uploaded, Cosma’s platform processes it into detailed photographic models and biodiversity reports, supporting applications from environmental monitoring to subsea infrastructure planning.
