Dutch startup Agurotech raises €2.25M for data-driven farming

Amsterdam-based startup Agurotech, which creates solutions for data-driven sustainable farming, has raised €2.25 million to expand internationally across Southern Europe, the Middle East, the US, and Canada.

  • Established in 2020 by Lilia Planjyan and Joëlle van den Brand, Agurotech develops advanced hardware and software for data-driven farming.
  • The company's app integrates sensor technology, weather stations, and AI-powered tools to provide real-time insights and predictive analytics, helping farmers manage water use, frost protection, fertigation, and crop protection.
  • Agurotech’s solutions, including digital rain gauges, weather monitoring, and multi-depth soil sensors, collect and process data to support informed decision-making in farming operations.

Details of the deal

  • The funding round received funding from Navus Ventures, a Dutch VC firm that invests in tech startups across various sectors, primarily focusing on the ongoing transitions in food and energy.
  • Additionally, ROM InWest, which manages two funds, a €60 million SME fund and a Transition Fund with a target capital of €100 million, participated in the round, along with Utrecht-based VC Rabo Investments.
  • The fresh capital will allow the startup to expand into global markets such as Southern Europe, the Middle East, the US, and Canada. Furthermore, it will support workforce growth and the establishment of local partnerships.

"This growth means building inventory, hiring new talent, and establishing local partnerships to support farmers globally in adapting to climate challenges and securing the future of agriculture," Agurotech's team commented.
