Tallinn-based Vocal Image, which creates an AI platform for improving voice and speech, has secured $3.6 million in a seed round led by Educapital.
- Vocal Image is an AI-based app launched in 2021 by Nick Lahoika, Maryna Shukiurava, and Mikalai Karaliou. It helps people improve their speaking skills through guided lessons, interactive exercises, and personalized AI feedback.
- Users can work on clarity, accent reduction, vocal confidence, and public speaking, as well as specialized programs like voice recovery or changing vocal characteristics.
- The app uses a large, privacy-compliant dataset of over 1 million real voice recordings, which are updated daily and labeled by users to improve AI accuracy.
- Vocal Image supports multiple languages, including English, Spanish, German, French, Ukrainian, and Russian. As of 2025, it has around 50,000 paid users, $12 million in annual recurring revenue, and a team of 20, many of whom are Belarusian exiles.
Details of the deal
- The seed round was led by Educapital, a Paris-based impact VC firm that invests from late seed to Series B in tech entrepreneurs shaping the future of education and work, with participation from Specialist VC and Generations Fund.
- With the new funding, Vocal Image plans to expand its development team and add more language localizations beyond its current support for English, Spanish, German, French, Ukrainian, and Russian.
