Source.ag raises $17.5M Series B to scale applied AI for Controlled Environment Agriculture

Amsterdam-based Source.ag, a developer of AI software for controlled-environment agriculture (CEA), has raised $17.5 million in Series B funding led by Astanor, with strategic participation from Enza Zaden and grower cooperative Harvest House. The round brings the company’s total funding to over $60 million since 2020.

  • Source.ag builds applied AI tools to help growers optimize greenhouse production. Its software analyses operational and environmental data, predicts yields, and can automate processes such as irrigation — tackling two industry challenges: rising demand for fresh produce and a shortage of experienced cultivators.
  • Since launch, Source.ag’s technology has been deployed in more than 300 greenhouses across 18 countries, covering 2,500 hectares and supporting the daily supply of tomatoes, bell peppers, and cucumbers for around 40 million people.
  • The new capital will support global scaling and expansion of its AI product suite, as the company partners with leading horticulture players to embed AI across the fresh produce value chain.

Rien Kamman, CEO and co-founder, said the funding confirms Source.ag’s role as an applied AI partner for growers: “Food chain innovation requires AI companies to work hand-in-hand with the industry. Our ambition is to sustainably feed everyone with sufficient fruits and vegetables.”
