Industrial robots software developer Sereact lands $110M to expand into the US

Stuttgart- and Boston-based firm Sereact has raised a $110 million in a Series B round led by Headline to scale its Cortex AI platform and expand its operations into the United States.

  • Founded in 2021 by Ralf Gulde and Marc Tuscher, Sereact develops software for industrial robots used in warehouse and manufacturing environments.
  • Its core system, Cortex, interprets visual data from operational settings and determines how robots should act within physical tasks such as picking and sorting.
  • Rather than responding only in real time, newer versions of Cortex generate multiple possible action trajectories, evaluate them using learned models of physical behaviour, and execute the most suitable option.
  • The system is trained on data gathered from live warehouse operations, where each robot interaction, successful or not, is used to continuously refine and update a central model that is then redeployed across the fleet.
  • The company operates more than 200 systems across Europe and reports over 1 billion real-world picks processed on Cortex, with approximately one remote human intervention required per 53,000 picks.
  • It is also expanding internationally, with its first US office in Boston, and its systems are used by customers including  Active Ants, Austrian Post, BMW, bol., Daimler Truck, DeltiLog, Mercedes-Benz, Monta, MS Direct, PepsiCo and Rohlik Group.

Details of the deal

  • The Series B funding round was led by Headline, with support from Bullhound Capital, Felix Capital, and Daphni, while Air Street Capital, Creandum, and Point Nine returned as existing investors.

Behind great opportunities and great companies are great founders, and Ralf and Marc are building into that opportunity the right way: real deployments, real data, and a model that compounds and gets better with every single pick. Customers love the product, which leads to continued expansion, only accelerating the data flywheel - this is why we are so excited to back Sereact," claims Trevor Neff, Growth Partner at Headline.
