Oxla, a Polish deeptech company, has been acquired by US data company Redpanda. The acquisition marks Warsaw Equity Group’s exit and Oxla’s move from Warsaw to Silicon Valley.
About Redpanda
- Founded in 2018 by Alex Gallego, Redpanda develops a real-time data platform that enables applications and AI agents to read, write, and process data continuously. It collects data from multiple sources, including databases, applications, and sensors, and streams it in real time for immediate use.
- The platform includes Redpanda Connect to move data across cloud and on-premise environments, and integrates Oxla’s SQL engine to allow agents and humans to query and transform data across sources.
- Redpanda also provides governance and access controls to ensure secure, auditable interactions, while its Agentic Data Plane framework lets AI agents interact with enterprise data safely, with full traceability and fine-grained permissions.
About Oxla
- Founded in 2022 by Adam Szymański and Kacper Szcześniak, Oxla builds a next-generation OLAP database that delivers extremely fast and efficient data processing. Its all-in-one design allows for smooth real-time analytics and handling of complex queries, with quick setup and compatibility with PostgreSQL for easy data management.
- In 2024, Warsaw-based startup Oxla secured $11 million in a seed round from TQ Ventures, Lead Ventures, Warsaw Equity Group, and 4growth VC to enhance its product and accelerate its go-to-market strategy.
Details of the acquisition
- Redpanda acquires Oxla to integrate its distributed SQL engine into the Agentic Data Plane, enabling AI agents and humans to securely query, transform, and access enterprise data in real time while maintaining governance, observability, and controlled interactions.
“AI agents have made initial inroads to the private networks of the modern enterprise. However, organizations today don’t have an easy, integrated way to observe, control, and govern data access for agents. The Agentic Data Plane provides the very necessary MCP aware connectivity, access control, and governance for enterprise AI. And with the acquisition of Oxla, we can now give agents a standard SQL endpoint for agents to query data in motion or at rest," claims Alex Gallego, CEO and founder of Redpanda.
