London-based semiconductor company MintNeuro, which develops specialised chips for neural devices and brain-computer interfaces, has secured $5 million in a funding round led by Odyssey Ventures.
- Founded in 2022 as a spinout from Imperial College London, MintNeuro develops a modular semiconductor platform for neural sensing, signal processing, and stimulation.
- Its technology is designed to help developers build smaller, lower-power neural devices without the need for costly and lengthy custom chip development.
- MintNeuro has already delivered working silicon and reached integration milestones with research and development partners, including Motif Neurotech and Amber Therapeutics.
- Earlier this year, the company announced a partnership and multi-year commercial chip supply agreement with Motif Neurotech to support the development of its minimally invasive neurostimulator targeting treatment-resistant depression.
- The company’s chips are designed for applications including brain-computer interfaces, neuromodulation systems, sensory prostheses, and bioelectronic medicines.
Details of the round
- The fresh round also saw participation from 33East, JSK Investments, and Alumni Ventures, alongside returning investors Empirical Ventures, Jumpspace Ventures, and other early backers.
- With the fresh capital, the company aims to accelerate product launches, expand partner adoption, grow its engineering and commercial teams, and strengthen its presence in the US and international markets.
"This funding moves us from technology validation to commercial scale-up, with more customer programmes, faster product launches and our chips in the hands of many more developers. Our ambition is clear: to make MintNeuro the semiconductor platform the global neurotechnology industry builds on," explains Dorian Haci, co-founder and CEO of MintNeuro.
