Mindgard raises $30M Series A to scale AI security platform

UK-based AI security startup Mindgard has raised $30 million in a Series A round led by Album VC, with participation from Karma Ventures and existing investors 406 Ventures, Atlantic Bridge, IQ Capital, and Lakestar.

  • Founded by Peter Garraghan and James Brear, Mindgard was spun out of more than a decade of AI security research at Lancaster University.
  • The company develops an AI security platform that helps organisations discover, assess, and protect AI models, agents, and applications against emerging threats.
  • Its platform provides capabilities including Shadow AI discovery, AI red teaming, and runtime AI protection, helping security teams identify vulnerabilities and manage AI risks across the development and deployment lifecycle.
  • Mindgard says its technology has uncovered and publicly disclosed more than 150 high-impact security and safety vulnerabilities in widely used AI products, including vulnerabilities affecting OpenAI, Google, and Cursor.

Details of the deal

  • The funding will be used to scale Mindgard’s product, engineering, sales, and marketing operations, expand its global reach, and meet growing demand from enterprise customers. The company aims to help organisations secure AI systems as they move into production and face an increasingly complex AI-driven attack surface.
