French firm M2care raises €26M to drive next-generation healthcare innovations

Paris-based healthtech venture studio M2care, which co-founds, develops, and finances early-stage healthcare startups from idea to market, has raised €26 million from the French Tech Accélération 2 (FTA2) fund, managed by Bpifrance on behalf of the French government, as Vestbee was informed.

  • Established in 2017, M2care is a European healthtech venture studio that identifies, develops, and finances early-stage healthcare innovations. It invests its own capital and engages directly in the operational development of startups alongside project leaders, acting as entrepreneurs in residence.
  • The studio sources ideas from French and European academic, hospital, and research networks, screening over 400 projects annually. Selected projects undergo a pre-creation evaluation where technological feasibility, intellectual property, clinical and regulatory requirements, industrialization potential, and market opportunities are assessed.
  • Once deemed viable, M2care co-founds the startup, assembles a dedicated team, and provides financial and operational support through early development stages up to Series A. It recruits talent, allocates human resources, and leverages its network of experts and healthcare professionals to de-risk ventures and accelerate market access.
  • The studio also helps secure follow-on financing and identifies potential exit strategies, ensuring startups are positioned for growth and strategic acquisition. Current focus areas include cardiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and neurology, with ventures such as Previa Medical, TheraSonic, and Rhovica Neuroimaging.
  • M2care saw support from the French Tech Accélération 2 (FTA2) fund managed by Bpifrance, along with existing investors Mérieux Développement, Institut NAOS des Sciences de la Vie, Crédit Agricole Centre-Est, and Family Offices.

“By investing in M2care, we are reaffirming our commitment to strengthening our technological sovereignty in healthcare. We are delighted to contribute to this effort on behalf of the French government," claims Pierre Gillet, Investment Director at Bpifrance.

  • The venture studio plans to use the fresh €26 million funding to create and develop eight new innovative healthcare projects, advancing ventures primarily in cardiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and neurology, and bringing early-stage healthtech solutions from the lab to the market.

“We are very pleased that France 2030's FTA 2 fund, managed on behalf of the French government by Bpifrance, is supporting our venture studio and helping to create pioneering Healthtech startups," explains Carsten Laue, General Manager of M2care.
