Lithuania’s LITILIT lands €8M to scale femtosecond laser manufacturing

Lithuanian deep tech company LITILIT has secured an €8 million loan from the Lithuanian National Development Bank ILTE to develop its FEMODA platform and scale the production of high-power femtosecond lasers.

  • Founded in Vilnius, LITILIT develops femtosecond laser systems based on patented technology designed to simplify their integration into industrial production lines. The company aims to make the technology more scalable and accessible across industries including automotive, aerospace, electronics, and semiconductor manufacturing.
  • At the core of the project is FEMODA, a modular femtosecond laser platform designed to reduce the complexity of conventional industrial laser systems. It combines control electronics, optics, and cooling into a single industrial unit, making the technology easier to integrate into existing production environments.
  • Femtosecond lasers use extremely short pulses to process materials with minimal damage to surrounding structures. While they are already used in areas such as semiconductor manufacturing, displays, medical devices, and precision components, wider industrial adoption has been limited by complex infrastructure, installation, cooling, and maintenance requirements.
  • FEMODA is designed to deliver up to 1,000 W of average optical power across 10 to 20 beam channels, allowing multiple processing points to operate on the same production line.
  • To support mass production, LITILIT began developing a new high-capacity laser facility in Vilnius in June. The facility is expected to begin operations this fall and will target annual production of 3,000 femtosecond lasers.

Details of the deal

  • The €8 million loan from ILTE forms part of a €10 million project, with LITILIT contributing €2 million of its own capital. The company plans to commercialize the new FEMODA laser system in the second half of 2029.
  • The financing will help LITILIT expand femtosecond laser technology beyond high-value, small-scale applications toward broader industrial manufacturing. Potential applications include the mass production of metal tools and specialized coatings for large surfaces such as aircraft and vehicle bodies.
