Gallos raises $50M to back next-generation security and resilience startups

UK-based defense tech investor and builder Gallos Technologies has raised $50 million in a balance sheet investment round to support the development and investment in early-stage companies focused on defense, security, and resilience.

  • Founded in 2021 by Josh Burch and Dean Jones, Gallos operates as both an investor and venture builder, backing and developing companies addressing emerging challenges across defense and national security.
  • The new capital will be used to fund Gallos' next cohort of investments and further develop its platform for building and supporting security, defense, and resilience technology companies.
  • Gallos' portfolio includes StirlingX, a drone and data intelligence startup led by Jones, and AI Score, a data prevention company. Former GCHQ director Sir Jeremy Fleming, who serves as chairman of Gallos' strategic advisory board, is also chairman of StirlingX and an advisor to AI Score.
  • The round was co-led by Ventura Capital, an early investor in Spotify, and Aberdeen Investments, with participation from existing investor Lansdowne Partners, as well as David Harding and other private and institutional investors. The round remains open to a limited number of additional strategic investors.
  • The funding comes as governments and defense organizations increase investment in technologies designed to address evolving security threats, geopolitical competition, and the growing use of emerging technologies in modern warfare.
  • According to Gallos, the new investment will enable the company to continue building and backing world-class security, defense, and resilience technology companies from their early stages.
