Finnish media tech startup Freepress raises €1M to expand global AI-powered platform

Finnish mediatech firm Freepress, which uses AI to collect, analyze, and summarize global news in users’ preferred languages, has raised €1 million in a seed round to build business tools for media monitoring and content management, as Vestbee was told.

  • Founded in 2023 by Joel Uussaari and Aleksi Kaistinen, Freepress is an AI-powered news service that collects and analyzes publicly available and licensed news articles from multiple countries.
  • The platform uses advanced AI to summarize and present key information in the user’s preferred language.
  • Users can follow news events from around the world in real time or receive automated updates on topics they select, including business & economy, culture, entertainment, environment, lifestyle, politics, science & technology, society, sports, war & safety, and weather.
  • In addition to AI-generated summaries, Freepress incorporates content from partner publishers, sharing up to half of the revenue with them. The service also provides business tools for media monitoring, content management, and market behavior analysis.

Details of the deal

  • The seed round was backed by a group of experienced Finnish investors, led by Stephen Industries Inc., a Finnish investment company focused on high-impact tech startups and known for fast, flexible funding, owned by Kustaa Poutiainen.
  • Freepress plans to use the €1 million seed funding to enhance its AI-powered news platform, enter international markets through publisher partnerships, expand language support, and develop business tools for content management, media monitoring, and market behavior forecasting.
