New Venture Funds:
- OpenAI files $175M for its Startup Fund. The fund will back early-stage startups working in transformative areas like "health care, climate change, and education—and where AI tools can empower people by helping them be more productive."
- UK-based Talis Capital closes its third, $175M fund to continue investing in European/US startups. The firm will focus on seed to series A innovation within data, AI, insurtech, proptech, “content to commerce,” digital health, sustainable food and farming.
- Polish-American ffVC announces a €60M fund to back late-seed to series A startups from Central Europe. The firm will focus on backing innovation within digital transformation, resource optimization, and sustainable transformation.
- Finnish VC Greencode Ventures launches a €25M green transition fund. The firm will invest in early-stage startups throughout Europe. https://greencode.vc/insights/greencode-ventures
- Pan-Baltic VC Change Ventures announces its third, €20M fund to back Baltic seed and pre-seed founders. The firm will consider startups building software and hardware, e-commerce, AI, B2B software, SaaS, and consumer applications.
- Ukrainian venture syndicate Toloka kicktstarts its operations. The group will mainly invest in Ukrainian projects and put up to $1.5M in a single startups.
Startup Funding Rounds & Acquisitions:
- Estonian VC Plural co-leads a €7M pre-seed round into a German fusion power plant producer Proxima Fusion.
- Estonian text message marketing platform TextMagic buys a local website building platform Voog to expand its SaaS portfolio. The reported size of the acquisition is €1.1M.
- Estonian fleet management & asset tracking platform Mapon acquires its local competitor CarCops in a bid to become country's largest fleet management company.The size of the transaction remains undisclosed.
- Czech omnichannel e-commerce platform Omnicado raises close to 10M Kč to invest in product development and business expansion. The investment was made by Oldřich Bajer.
- Polish HR/Payroll automation platform HRobots gets a 1,1M PLN investment. The round was led by SPINAKER ALFA.
- Polish fintech platform for supply chain Finteq raises an undisclosed round to continue its business expansion. The round was led by Invento VC.
Startup Calls:
- Applications to AWS Startup Loft Accelerator are open now! AWS Climate Tech Accelerator is dedicated to supporting early-stage Climate Tech companies from EMEA region. The applications for the challenge run until the 7th of July
- Kilo Health seeks aspiring founders to co-found a healthtech/wellness company with. The company can help assemble a team, use company's HR, marketing and internal R&D to help start and scale the new venture. The company will consider both software and hardrware projects and review submissions continuously.
- 10 days until Carpathian Startup Fest starts in Rzeszów. The event will host a wide selection of founders and investors and among them: Jarosław Królewski, Tomasz Swieboda, Esat Acar and many others. The event runs between 15th and 16th of June and there're still some tickets available for purchase.
- Retail hackathon by Rimi Baltic invites established startups and hackers to Riga between 14 - 16 of June. The event will offer a chance of winning a paid pilot with up to €100k to procure it, as well as a €5k prize for the 48-hour challenge winners. The applications are run till the 9th of June.
