Polish retail startup ZeroQs raises €457k to develop smart shopping card technology

Poland’s ZeroQs has raised €457,000 (PLN 2 million) from its existing backer Freya Capital as follow-on investment, as Vestbee was informed.

  • Launched in 2019 by Jarosław Kaczmarczyk and Tomasz Bruliński, ZeroQs develops smart shopping cart technology, aiming to provide a more efficient and enjoyable shopping experience for both customers and retail chains.
  • Featuring a built-in weighing system, barcode reader, and touchscreen, the ZeroQs smart cart simplifies the shopping process, allowing customers to complete their purchase as the due amount is automatically charged to their account. At the same time, the weighing and visual systems verify products, protecting retail networks from potential threats like theft, fraud, or customer mistakes.
  • ZeroQs smart shopping carts are already operating in stores of such chains as Społem and Detal Centrum, while the startup is in the process of negotiations with other Polish and international retail chains.
  • In 2019, ZeroQs secured a pre-seed round of €250,000 from ValueTechSeed for R&D work on our solution, as well as an additional funding round of €1 million from Freya Capital.
  • The fresh follow-on funding came from the startup’s existing investor, Freya Capital, a Polish venture capital fund supporting and financing early-stage companies with international scaling potential.

“The newly raised capital will enable us to continue working on the technology, intensify our presence in the country and prepare for expansion into neighboring markets. Our priority for the coming year is to consistently continue the commercialization of our solution. We plan full-scale implementations in retail chains both in Poland and abroad,”  comments ZeroQs CEO, Jarosław Kaczmarczyk, on the startup’s future plans.
