Milan-based firm WeRoad, which builds small-group adventure travel and local social experiences through its community-driven platform, has raised $58 million led by Airbnb with support from existing investors, including H14.
- Founded in 2017 by Paolo De Nadai, Fabio Bin, and Erika De Santi, WeRoad focuses on building small-group adventure trips and local social experiences that turn travel into a community-driven activity rather than an individual service.
- It operates across multiple European markets, including Italy, Spain, the UK, France, and Germany, and extends its model through “WeMeet,” a platform for organizing in-person social events.
- The company has served over 300,000 travelers across more than 1,000 itineraries, supported by a network of roughly 4,000 coordinators who lead groups and manage the on-the-ground experience. Its trips typically bring together small groups of around 8 to 15 people, designed to encourage social interaction among mostly solo travelers of similar age.
- Additionally, WeRoad expanded into local experiences through WeMeet, which in 2025 hosted over 2,000 events with around 50,000 participants across 35 cities, extending its model from multi-day trips to everyday social connection.
Details of the deal
- With the fresh capital, the firm aims to accelerate its expansion into the United States by launching its group travel itineraries and WeMeet social experiences in key cities, while building a local network of coordinators, strengthening partnerships, and investing in marketing to scale its community-driven model internationally.
"Entering the United States doesn’t change the way we work in Europe: our trips, Group Leaders, and WeMeet events will continue as always. But it does open a new chapter in a market where demand for shared experiences is growing faster than anywhere else and where we believe we can bring something meaningful.
