Cambridge-based healthtech firm TidalSense, which develops AI-powered respiratory diagnostic technologies that analyse patients’ breathing patterns to detect conditions such as COPD, has secured $19 million in funding led by Cross-Border Impact Ventures, with participation from returning investors BGF, Airstream Capital, and Foresight Group.
- Founded in 2019 by Dr Ameera Patel and Julian Carter, TidalSense develops AI-driven respiratory diagnostics and monitoring solutions designed to improve the detection and management of lung conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma.
- The company’s flagship product, N-Tidal Diagnose, uses a handheld device to capture natural breathing patterns and analyse carbon dioxide waveforms through AI models to identify COPD without traditional spirometry testing.
- By offering a faster and non-invasive alternative to forced exhalation tests, TidalSense aims to improve access to respiratory diagnosis for patients and healthcare providers.
Details of the deal
- The investment will allow the startup to accelerate commercialisation of its respiratory diagnostics platform, expand across the UK, Europe, and the US, and develop new applications for respiratory conditions beyond COPD.
