StandardX lands £10M to develop scalable isotope production

UK-based deeptech company StandardX has raised £10 million in a seed round co-led by Vsquared Ventures and East X Ventures, with participation from firstminute capital, UK Innovation & Science Seed Fund (UKI2S), Brevan Howard Macro Venture, and Geometry.

  • Founded in 2025 by Richard Pearson and Ross Allen, StandardX is developing a scalable isotope production platform designed to manufacture a range of isotopes from a compact industrial footprint.
  • The company aims to address supply constraints in the isotope market, where production is concentrated among a limited number of ageing facilities.
  • StandardX is initially focusing on medical isotopes used in cancer diagnosis and treatment, including materials required for targeted alpha therapies.
  • Its platform is designed to produce both isotopes already used in hospitals and those needed for emerging treatments that are not yet available at commercial scale.
  • The company also plans to apply its technology to energy applications, including the production of tritium, a key fuel for fusion reactors. StandardX has signed agreements with fusion developers to support future tritium supply.

Details of the deal

  • With the fresh capital, the company plans to expand its team, secure its first industrial site in London, and advance the design and construction of its first isotope refinery. StandardX plans to begin pilot production and supply its first isotopes to a medical research partner in 2027, with industrial-scale production targeted for 2029.
