Budapest-based firm Resoloon, which develops AI-controlled high-altitude balloons for real-time, high-resolution Earth observation, has raised a €550,000 pre-seed round from Project Europe and Day One Capital, as Vestbee was told.
- Founded in 2026 by Domokos Kertész, Resoloon develops high-altitude balloon systems for Earth observation, aiming to solve the “impossible tetrilemma” of resolution, coverage, continuity, and cost.
- The company’s autonomous stratospheric balloons carry lightweight sensor payloads under 4 kg and capture near-drone-level imagery across satellite-scale areas.
- Using proprietary AI to predict winds across 15 atmospheric layers, the balloons navigate precisely and deliver real-time data, enabling applications in critical infrastructure monitoring, disaster response, national security, and other sectors. Resoloon’s approach provides continuous, high-resolution monitoring at a fraction of the cost of traditional satellites or aircraft.

- Resoloon will use the fresh €550,000 funding to finalize its high-altitude balloon imaging product, refine use cases such as critical infrastructure monitoring, disaster response, and national security, and expand commercial and sales efforts to explore new market opportunities.

They have developed a high-altitude balloon imaging system that fundamentally reimagines Earth observation by combining near drone-level resolution with satellite-like coverage at radically lower cost. The platform consists of autonomous stratospheric balloons carrying lightweight sensor payloads not heavier than 4kg total," Day One Capital's team, commented in a press release.
