Defence software startup Project Q raises €15M Series A led by Expeditions

Berlin and Munich-based company Project Q, which develops integration infrastructure for security and defence ecosystems, has raised €15 million in a Series A round. The investment was led by Expeditions, its existing investor, and came less than a year after its seed round.

  • Founded in 2021, Project Q develops Hydris, an open-source integration and orchestration platform for defence. Being released last week, it connects sensors, unmanned systems, command-and -control (C2) platforms, and other military technologies into a single operational environment.

  • By bringing data from multiple systems together, Hydris addresses one of the key challenges facing modern armed forces — fragmented data across disconnected systems. According to Project Q, the platform enables the military to prioritize critical information, coordinate manned and unmanned assets, and make faster decisions while keeping humans in full control.
  • The fresh round was led by Expeditions, a Warsaw and London-based firm that recently closed the €197 million second fund to invest in early-stage founders building defence and dual-use technologies.
  • German defence electronics specialist HENSOLDT and venture capital firm Heliad also joined the Series A. The proceeds will allow Project Q to further develop and scale its Hydris software.
