London-based MintNeuro, a neurotechnology company developing specialised chips for neural devices, has secured $5 million in a funding round led by Odyssey Ventures, with participation from JSK Investments, 33East, and Alumni Ventures. Existing investors Empirical Ventures and Jumpspace Ventures also reinvested, as Vestbee was informed.
- Founded as a spin-out from Imperial College London, MintNeuro develops semiconductor technology for devices that interface with the brain and nervous system, including implants and wearable electronics.
- Its platform helps developers build smaller, more energy-efficient devices by improving the sensing and processing of neural signals and enabling targeted electrical stimulation.
- Earlier this year, the company signed a multi-year agreement to supply chips to Motif Neurotech for a minimally invasive neurostimulator initially targeting treatment-resistant depression.
Details of the deal
- The fresh capital will help MintNeuro commercialise its chips, expand shipments of pre-production chips to partners, and strengthen its presence in the United States.
- MintNeuro aims to provide a scalable hardware platform for medical neurotechnology, with longer-term ambitions to support brain-computer interfaces and bioelectronic medicine.
