Berlin-based LawX secures €7.5 million to build AI operating system for law firms

Berlin-based LawX has secured €7.5 million in seed funding to build what it describes as Europe’s legal operating system. The round was led by Motive Partners, with participation from WENVEST Capital, xdeck, and SIVentures, alongside angel investors from the technology and legal sectors.

  • Founded in Berlin, LawX develops an AI-powered platform for law firms and notaries focused on automating operational workflows. Its system covers areas including data capture, workflow orchestration, document management, contact and calendar administration, and billing, aiming to reduce the manual workload that still dominates many legal operations.
  • The startup enters a legal sector facing growing operational pressure. While demand for legal services continues to rise across Europe, many firms continue to rely on fragmented legacy software and manual administrative processes. According to the company, a large share of law firm operations remains heavily administrative, limiting productivity and scalability at a time when the sector is also experiencing talent shortages.
  • Unlike many legal AI startups focused primarily on research or drafting assistance, LawX is positioning itself around operational infrastructure. The company combines case management, workflow automation, communication handling, billing, and document processing into a single platform designed to automate end-to-end legal operations.
  • With the fresh capital, LawX plans to further expand into the broader law firm market, while accelerating product development, platform expansion, and the scaling of its sales and customer support teams. In the long term, the company aims to establish itself as a core operating layer for legal work across Europe.
