German spacetech company HyImpulse has raised more than €50 million in a Series A Extension co-led by JOIN Capital and Ace Capital Partners, bringing the company’s total equity and public funding to more than €125 million.
- Founded in 2018 as a spin-off of DLR, HyImpulse develops commercial rockets powered by proprietary hybrid propulsion technology that combines paraffin fuel with liquid oxygen. The approach is designed to simplify rocket architecture, reduce component count, and lower launch costs.
- The company’s SR75 suborbital rocket completed its inaugural flight campaign at the Koonibba Test Range in South Australia in 2024. HyImpulse is preparing its second SR75 launch from SaxaVord Spaceport in Scotland by the end of 2026, while developing its SL1 orbital launch vehicle.
- With more than 100 employees across Germany and the UK, HyImpulse is expanding its commercial operations, supported by an order book exceeding €350 million across satellite launches, in-space mobility, suborbital research, and defense applications.
Details of the deal
- The round saw participation from North Ventures, BW-Capital, Bayern Kapital, and the German Aerospace Center (DLR), alongside continued support from existing investor Campus Founders Ventures.
- HyImpulse will use the funding to advance its SR75 and SL1 launch platforms, expand production capabilities, and scale commercial operations across Europe and beyond.
