Swiss startup Albatross raises €10.5M to transform real-time product discovery with adaptive AI

Zurich-based startup Albatross, which develops real-time AI for personalized product discovery, has raised €10.5 million in a seed funding round led by MMC Ventures, with participation from Redalpine, Daphni, and strategic angel investors, bringing its total funding to €13.5 million.

  • Established in 2024 by Dr. Kevin Kahn, Dr. Matteo Ruffini, and Johan Boissard, Albatross develops a real-time product and content discovery platform that continuously learns from user interactions.
  • The company’s system uses sequential embedding models trained directly on live events to capture user intent and context within each session, rather than relying on static rules, catalog metadata, or past behavior.
  • The platform processes over one billion events per month, updating embeddings more than 4,000 times per second, and delivers predictions in under 100 milliseconds. Its core products include a Real-Time Discovery Feed, which dynamically surfaces relevant items tailored to each session, and a multimodal Search engine that adapts to changing user intent and integrates image-based inputs.
  • The infrastructure operates via a simple API-first setup, with continuous learning and zero maintenance, enabling enterprise-grade personalization at scale.

Details of the deal

  • Albatross will use the €10.5 million funding to scale its AI platform, enhance its real-time recommendation and search products, and improve its transformer-based models to process billions of live events with low latency, enabling enterprises to deliver truly adaptive and context-aware user experiences.
