Athens-based fintech startup Wocap raises €450k pre-seed funding round

Athens-based fintech startup Wocap has raised €450,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by Genesis Ventures. The funds will be used to accelerate product development.

  • Founded in 2025 by Petros Patronis, Wocap develops a platform that connects large corporations with excess cash to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in need of working capital.
  • The platform enables corporations to deploy idle funds to provide early payments or financing to their suppliers in real time.
  • By automating and streamlining transactions directly between businesses, Wocap bypasses the complexities of traditional lending. The system integrates with existing financial workflows, allowing companies to manage liquidity efficiently while giving suppliers faster and lower-cost access to capital.

Details of the deal

  • The pre-seed funding was led by Genesis Ventures, an angel co-investment fund that provides €100,000 to €400,000 in pre-seed and seed capital to early-stage startups in Greece and Southeast Europe.
  • The funding will be allocated to hiring key personnel, advancing the platform’s technical development, and initiating client onboarding and integration.

"We’re committed to making working capital smarter, fairer, and more accessible—especially for SMEs who often face the biggest challenges. This support brings us one step closer to making that a reality in Greece and beyond," founder and CEO of Wocap, Petros Patronis, stated.
