New VC Funds

  • Global VC firm Headline raises a $950M throughout all of its region-focused vehicles in Europe, US, Latin America and Asia. The firm will invest $1M to $15M across all stages and industries.
  • How to Web’s organizer/founder Bogdan Iordache launches a €20M firm Underline Ventures. The fund will back Eastern European startups at the early-stage.
  • A Pan-European VC Climentum announces its first €150M fund to support Europe’s green transition. The firm will back late-seed to series A startups with tickets ranging from €1M to €5M.
  • Berlin-based AENU closes a €100M evergreen fund to back social and climate-focused startups. The firm plans to put €500k to €5M into early-stage companies across the US and Europe.
  • Danish Unconventional Ventures raises its next €30M vehicle to invest in early-stage founders of underrepresented backgrounds. The firms will back startups across the whole of Europe while focusing on climate, health, education, and inclusive fintech verticals.
  • Ukrainian digital marketing agency Netpeak Group launches a startup studio Kiss My Apps. The company will focus on mobile/web focused business and put up to $200k in projects across all stages of development.

CEE Startup Funding Rounds & Acquisitions

  • Lithuanian small satellite startup Nanoavionics starts up an acquisition process with Nordics’s largest industrial space company Kongsberg. The group purchased %76 of the shares at a €65M valuation.
  • Remote medical testing platform Certific raises €7.4M in a seed round to fund product development and market expansion. The round was the first investments of Plural VC and followed by Specialist VC as well as UK’s managing director of Amazon Christopher North.
  • Latvian incentive token provider Salto X gets €5.2M in funding to offer remote-first companies a better way of giving out company stock options. The round was raised from byFounders VC, Blockwall, Box Group, crypto trading startup 3Commas and a number of business angels.
  • An edtech for pre-school children The Village raises €3,4M to expand internationally. The investment was made by Movens Capital, 500 Startups, Tilia Impact Ventures and Credo Ventures
    Lab results interpretation platform Labplus picks up 7M PLN pre-seed round to introduce its first product and start market expansion. The company was supported throug the investment by LT Capital and a grant from NCBR.
  • VR-gaming studio Something Random receives an investment  to release its first two games. The transaction is nearing millions of USD and was made by NetEase Games.
  • AR platform for mobile games Augmented Robotics picks up its first  €700k investment. The round was led by RKKVC, Sony Innovation Fund, DepoVentures, Grouport Ventures, Zugdamer Asset Management and a number of business angels.
  • Digital therapy startup Helping Hand receives 3.9M PLN in funding to rebuild the app and for introducing new features. The investment was made by a group of undisclosed business angels.
  • SaaS-enabled events marketplace Breezit receives a €100k pre-seed round. The round was the first-ever investment of a recently announced BADideas.fund.
    Insect protein startup Divaks has received its second seed round to build up company’s R&D capacity and launch their main product. The funding was made by the previous investors and the amount is undisclosed.

Startup Calls

  • SET University and Startup Wise Guys launch applications for a 3-week bootcamp. The program is open for startups building product that could accelerate Ukraine’s post-war recovery. The applications are open till the 24th of July.
  • PIER71 starts gathering applications for its smart port challenge. If you get accepted into the program you will get a chance to showcase your solutions to industry-leading corporates and investors, benefit from coaching sessions and even compete for a cash prize. The applications are open till the 22nd of July.
  • A startup challenge for the Mazovian region: Startuj z Mazowsza gathers applications for its 4th edition. Those accepted into the program may get coaching, business contacts and up to 90k PLN-worth of benefits. You can apply here until the 14th of July.

Other

  • Stripe publishes a report on the attitudes and perceptions around Europe’s tech ecosystem among its business customers and a potential ways of increasing the continent’s perceived (and real) competitiveness. To check it out you can go to this page.
  • The EU announces an adoption of Digital Services Package regulating the online platforms. The new law will barr big tech companies from anti-competitive practices of banning third-party app stores, payment gateways and any pre-installed or otherwise enforced default apps.
