Today, we are going deep into interesting CEE funding rounds that took place in November, the second month of Q4 2021. This time FinTech, e-commerce, AI, micro-mobility and SaaS attracted investor's interests.

Payhawk

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria

Founded in 2018, Bulgarian Payhawk is a fintech startup providing end-to-end management of company spendings with a goal to enable global enterprises and fast-growing technology companies to transform the way of how their company spendings are managed and improve efficiencies. Payhawk’s all-in-one software offers a.o. features such as expense management, corporate cards, bill payments, reimbursements and accounting automation. Recently, the startup has secured one of CEE largest series B rounds - €99.6M from Greenoaks, Eleven Ventures, Earlybird Venture Capital and QED Investors. Acquired financing will accelerate the project launch of a credit cards service and boost opening new offices. 

Packhelp

Poland-based Packhelp is a packaging marketplace. The startup helps all kinds of companies starting with small brands, ending at big giants like H&M with wrapping their wares in eye-catching custom packaging. Packhelp has recently raised €40M during a Series B round led by InfraVia Capital Partners and accompanied by European Investment Bank, FJ Labs, Inovo Venture Partners, Market One Capital, PortfoLion Capital Partners, PROfounders Capital, Speedinvest and White Star Capital. Secured funds will be allocated to accelerate its international expansion plans, and scale its global supplier network.

Gelatex

Location: Tallinn, Estonia

Gelatex is an Estonia startup enabling cell-cultured meat production. Taking advantage of the fact that cultured meat and plant-based food markets are rapidly growing, the startup has found a solution to scale and enhance the production of nanofibrous 3D scaffolding that could be used to grow cell-cultured meat. Recently secured a seed round in the amount of €1M from Change Ventures, Crosslight Partners will be allocated to further develop the technology standing behind the new type of meat.

The startup has recently secured a seed round in the amount of €1M from Lithuanian Business Angel Network, Presto Ventures, and Startup Wise Guys, while secured funds will be used for further platform development and expansion.

Polish epeer is a deep-tech startup with a mission to revolutionize the customer risk assessment process. Epeer is building an AI-powered scoring system that combines the traditional and behavioral data to create a much more insightful customer profile and assess customers’ credit risk much more elaborately. The startup has recently secured €1M from Czech Lighthouse Ventures, raised funds will be allocated to further development of innovative technology and launching activities in other markets.

VSight

Location: Vilnius, Lithuania

Lithuania-based VSight, founded in 2014, is an augmented reality remote support and remote assistance software platform. The startup enables companies to share knowledge to perform operations such as maintenance, repair, inspection, and training remotely using mobile devices and smart glasses. VSight has recently closed the seed round in the amount of €775k from EstBAN, Startup Wise Guys, and Cocoon Ventures - secured funds will be used for supporting the further growth of the company.

Bitrise

Hungarian Y Combinator graduate - Bitrise, founded in 2014, is a mobile DevOps platform that enables mobile organizations to get apps to market faster and cheaper by addressing mobile’s challenges and empowering mobile teams to deliver their best work. The startup has recently secured €53M in a series C round from Fiedler Capital, H14, Insight Partners, OpenOcean, Partech, Y Combinator, and Zobito. Raised funds will help a startup to expand operations, and increase headcount across its engineering, product, sales & growth teams.

Meredot

Location: Riga, Latvia
Launch date: 2019

Founded in 2019, Latvian Meredot, is a startup developing the next generation electric fueling stations to lead the mobility charging infrastructure market. The company provides e-scooter operators with wireless vehicle charging stations and therefore helps cities resolve efficiency, environmental, and safety issues to maximize the benefits of micro-mobility. Recently secured funds in the amount of €300k from Overkill Ventures will be used for further development of the product.

Virbe

Polish Virbe, founded in 2019, is a SaaS startup offering a platform, where companies can create interactive Virtual Beings by utilizing existing tools and pipelines or designing them with Virbe platform built-in features. The solution is dedicated to supporting and improving communication with customers in autonomous shops and metaverse. The startup has recently been supported by LT Capital, and secured funds during seed round in the amount of €250K will be allocated for further platform development. 

Ampler Bikes

Estonia-based Ampler Bikes is an electric bike startup that combines modern technology with a traditional bicycle design to make pedaling easier, lighter, and faster, and therefore make electric bikes suitable for everyone. The recently secured funding in the amount of €7.4M from Ambient Sound Investments, Metaplanet Holdings and well-recognized business angels like Ragnar Sass, Sten Tamkivi, and Taavet Hinrikus will be allocated to supporting further expansion, increasing the headcount and number of showrooms, as well as building a new carbon-neutral factory.
