Today, we are going deep into interesting CEE funding rounds that took place in December, the last month of Q4 2021. This time e-commerce, AI, SaaS, Healthcare, Blockchain and Big Data attracted investor's interests.

Ramp

Location: Warsaw, Poland

Founded in 2017, Polish Ramp is a startup creating the software that allows other companies to build applications for cryptocurrency transactions i.e. exchanging traditional currencies like dollar or euro, into cryptocurrencies. Its goal is to open up digital assets to more businesses and users by making sending or receiving cryptocurrencies possible without having to go through an exchange like Coinbase or others. Recently, the startup has secured one of the largest Polish series A rounds - €46M from Balderton, Firstminute Capital, Galaxy Digital, NFX, Seedcamp and business angels. Acquired financing will accelerate the business development on the US market.

SatRevolution

Location: Wroclaw, Poland

Poland-based SatRevolution is a nanosatellite technologies company. The startup designs and manufactures nanosatellites, and then places them in orbits around the Earth to collect optical data, and therefore enable continuous monitoring to understand the changing world and react to environmental issues and other crises. SatRevolution has recently raised €26.4M during a series B round from Richard Branson’s Virgin Orbit. The funding round pushed the startup’s valuation to approximately $150M while secured funds will be allocated to increasing the company’s presence on global markets and signing new partnerships.

Photoneo

Location: Bratislava, Slovakia

Photoneo is a Slovakian robotic vision and intelligence startup that develops a first-of-its-kind end-to-end solution for fully automated fulfillment centers. Using robots equipped with 3D sensor technologies, the company has a goal to transform e-commerce order fulfillment. Recently secured series B round in the amount of €18.5M from well-recognized investors such as Credo Ventures, Earlybird Venture Capital, IPM Group, Venture to Future Fund and AI Capital, will be allocated to further develop the technology standing behind the project. 

Amano.app

Founded in 2021, Polish Amano.app, is a startup reinventing the approach to post-shopping communication. To do so, Amano allows its users to follow all their deliveries live in one place, receive promotions in a more engaging way, directly contact customer service and keep an eye on spending across shops & categories. On the other hand, Amano helps shops to get more actionable data, prepare engaging marketing content, and finally get a more personalized touch. Recently secured funds in the amount of €1.5M from Next Road Ventures, Kaya VC, Kogito Ventures and business angel will be used for further development of the product.

Ready Player Me

Estonia-based Ready Player Me, founded in 2020, is a startup building a metaverse avatar platform. Taking advantage of the fact that the idea of the metaverse is becoming more and more popular these days, the startup allows users to create custom identities for themselves and that permits them to travel with a consistent appearance across multiple virtual worlds. What’s more, Ready Player Me’s technology allows developers, creators and other users to monetize their work using NFTs (non-fungible tokens). The startup has recently secured a Series A round in the amount of €11.4M from Taavet+Sten, Konvoy Ventures, NordicNinja VC, Samsung NEXT, Tiny VC, Trind VC and various business angels. These funds will be used for expanding the operations.

Higo Sense

Polish Higo Sense is a digital healthcare startup providing a mobile medical examination device that is supported by a mobile app and its online AI-powered health diagnostic platform. Startup’s tool allows physicians to perform high-quality remote patient examinations and also helps patients with making reliable self-examination. Higo Sense has recently secured €5M during a series A round from Cogito Capital Partners, that will be allocated to supporting further expansion in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. 

Ambire

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria

Bulgaria-based Ambire, founded in 2017, is a Defi-Focused Crypto Wallet with a goal to open the world of decentralized finance and cryptocurrencies for everyone. The browser-based solution offers its users accessible UX, hassle-free onboarding, automatic gas management, hardware wallet support, and much more. Ambire has recently closed the seed round in the amount of €2.2M led by well-recognized LAUNCHub Ventures and accompanied by  Ascensive Assets, MetaCartel Ventures, Skynet Trading, Zee Prime Capital and business angel. Secured funds will be used for supporting further solution development. 

Frisbo

Location: Vulcan, Romania

Romanian Frisbo, founded in 2014, is an e-fulfillment platform and warehouse network. The startup provides a solution that is matching online stores with a network of trusted fulfillment operators & smart logistics providers and therefore helps sellers get orders to their customers cheaper, faster, and easier, making e-commerce truly borderless. The startup has recently secured a seed round in the amount of €1.8M led by Eleven Ventures and accompanied by Gapminder VC, Roca X and Neogen. Raised funds will help a startup with its expansion plans in Europe and beyond. 

HeavyFinance

Lithuanian HeavyFinance, founded in 2020, is a startup working on a marketplace connecting the global investor community with farmers, which has already lent more than $14 million to the agricultural sector supporting farmers from countries like Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, and Portugal. What’s more, in order to make farms more sustainable, HeavyFinance provides more favorable loan conditions to those using less-polluting equipment, soil carbon sequestration, or no-till farming receive more favorable loan conditions. The startup has recently been supported by Black Pearls VC, bValue Venture Capital, Startup Wise Guys, business angels, and secured funds during seed round in the amount of €880K will be used to provide farmers with short-to-medium term loans. 

Doctor.One

Warsaw-based Doctor.One is a startup introducing a next-generation virtual clinic by allowing doctors to create and run a private medical practice in a subscription model. At Doctor.One, doctors invite to the virtual clinic the patients they want to take care of and after that doctors can be in touch with them via a built-in messenger app, check their treatment progress, or offer a video consultation. If necessary, they can also ask patients to visit their practice or schedule a home visit. The application enables to control the time spent on specific medical consultation, as well as the scope and price of the subscription. The startup has been noticed by Movens Capital, which led the pre-seed round in the amount of €440K.
