TOP CEE Funding Rounds Closed In April 2021

April, the first month of Q2 2021, was much less active than its predecessor March, in terms of the amount of financing secured on the market, which was more than 4 times lower. Disclosed funding in CEE exceeded €85M, mainly thanks to the impressive investment into Estonian Veriff, which series B funding reached €57M while among the top areas that attracted investors’ attention were cyber security, big data, energy, advertising, banking and personal health.

Now, let’s have a look into TOP April startup funding rounds in CEE!

Veriff

Location: Tallinn, Estonia

Total funding received: €77,5M

Tallinn-based, Veriff is an online identity verification company focused on protecting businesses and their clients from online identity fraud. In order to help companies with staying compliant and maintaining online trust, the startup provides them with AI-powered solutions. The company already serves a global portfolio of organizations and has recently secured €57M in the April series B round. The investment round was led by Accel and IVP, the proceeds will be spent on accelerating the growth on the U.S. market.

SunRoof

Location: Warsaw, Poland

Polish-Swedish SunRoof is a roof-tile and energy startup, which came up with the idea of making its own roof-tile technology that replaces traditional roofs and generates solar power. It also enables homeowners to sell surplus energy via the marketplace. Company has recently closed a €4.5M seed extension round led by Inovo Venture Partners and accompanied by SMOK Ventures, LT Capital, KnowledgeHub, EIT InnoEnergy and FD Growth Capital. Raised funds will be allocated to accelerate expansion in Europe & USA and further development of the marketplace.

Craft

Location: Budapest, Hungary

Budapest-based Craft is a software company that specializes in the fields of mobile apps and productivity tools. Currently Craft is available on iOS, iPadOS and MacOS, and allows its users to easily create structured and linked content, as well as, share documents to collaborate with whoever they want to. It is also planned to launch a browser-based documents’ editor soon. The startup has recently secured a series A round in the amount of €6.6M led by Creandum and accompanied by InReach Ventures and various business angels connected to “Skyscanner” mafia. The proceeds will be used for further solution development.

Sundose

Location: Lublin, Poland

Founded in 2018, Polish Sundose is a direct-to-consumer personalized supplements platform allowing to order a nutrient mix fully tailored to each client’s individual needs, lifestyle or even medical history. Recently, the startup’s efforts have been noticed by ARIA Fund, Atmos Ventures, DX Ventures, Investible, KnowledgeHub and Polipo Ventures, that participated in a series A investment round in the amount of €5M. Secured funds will be used for scaling the business on european markets and further development of the personalization engine. 

Spoko

Polish Spoko, founded in 2017, is a fintech operating in the international money transfer market. While regular banks charge clients at 7-8% of each transfer, the startup offers its customers to exchange money instantly at fair exchange rates. The company also allows sending money via application and even receiving the cash transfer at any agent location. The startup has recently secured €5M in a series A round from Fintech Ventures, the obtained financing will be invested in boosting growth, expanding services into next markets and further application development.

Founded in 2017, Romanian Product Lead is a marketing startup developing a content creation automation platform allowing customers to create meaningful customer journeys. The platform helps companies with boosting sales, gaining the knowledge of the market, building better sales funnels and improving omnichannel strategy. Recently secured funds during a seed round in the amount of €600K led by Sparking Capital and accompanied by Eleven Ventures and Founders Bridge will be allocated to growing the team, further solution development and expanding activities into new markets - especially CEE, DACH and Nordics. 

Mindgram

Poland-based Mindgram is a science-based platform and mobile application for mental well-being and self-development of employees. The startup is a great match for employers looking for a way to offer a new kind of valuable perk. Among platform features, there are consultations with specialists and workshops conducted by experts in psychology, coaching, and self-development. Mindgram has recently secured a pre-seed round in the amount of €1.87M (one of the largest pre-seed rounds secured by Polish-founded company) led by Market One Capital and accompanied by Pamoja Capital Group. The funds will be allocated to support fast-paced expansion in the region and scaling up in its home market - Poland.

Avatao

Hungary-based Avatao, founded in 2014 is a provider of job-related security training that generates real-life scenarios of security best practices for security and development teams, so that they can improve their coding skills and prevent common mistakes. The startup has recently closed the Venture round in the amount of €1M led by 212 and accompanied by 500 Startups,FastVentures, Speedinvest, and various business angels. Secured funds will be allocated to the platform development and accelerating the further growth of the company. 

inSTREAMLY

The startup has recently secured €1.1M in a seed round led by British Supernode Global and was accompanied by Colopl Next, Paul Bragiel, PKO BP, PKO VC, and SMOK Ventures. Secured funds will be used to enter new markets and further development of inSTREAMLY platform.

VideoCV

The startup has recently secured €410K in a pre-seed round led by Zenith Family Office, EstBAN, Startup Wise Guys and various business angels. The proceeds will be allocated to expanding the number of features offered by the platform and further enhancing the user interface.
