Polish Smartschool secures $1.5M in a pre-seed round to expand in the US

Smartschool has completed a pre-seed round raising $1.5 million from Inovo.vc, The Explorer Fund, and angel investors, Tech.eu reports.

  • Founded in 2023 by Matt Maslowski, Paul Burzynski, and Agata Mroczkowska, edtech startup Smartschool develops an AI-guided learning system for kindergarten to grade 12 students.
  • Based in Poland and the US, the startup is developing Yoko, a virtual assistant designed particularly to help US kids prepare for their SAT Exam, an essential test needed to get into college. According to Smartschool,Yoko is less expense than hiring a home teacher.  
  • Yoko analyzes each student’s weak points and requirements and creates a unique learning plan for each pupil to accomplish their learning objectives efficiently. 
  • Smartschool claims that Yoko has helped thousands of SAT students higher their exam scores, in addition, Smartschool teaching agency has assisted more than 1,000 students from Southeast Asia and Europe study for exams and contests. 
  • The $1.5 million funding came from Inovo.vc, which grants funding to early-stage, post-traction entrepreneurs in Poland and the CEE, and The explorer Fund, a California-based fund that invests up to $100,000 in pre-seed founders.  
  • Additionally, the fund was backed by angel investors that are Andreas Michaelides, Chief of Psychology at Noom, and Konrad Howard, co-founder of Booksy.

They have successfully launched a product that has significantly aided numerous students in excelling at their SAT exams," Michał Rokosz, Partner at Inovo.vc, commented on the deal. 

  • The fresh investment will be used to improve content and product, as well as speed market presence in the US.
