Estonian Certific raises €700k to expand in new markets

Estonian patient relationship and clinical data management platform Certific, which enhances communication between doctors and patients by integrating medical insights and technology, has raised €700,000 in funding to expand into new markets and develop its product. The fresh funding came from FIRSTPICK, Change Ventures, and HEARTFELT_.

  • Certific was founded in 2020 by Taavet Hinrikus, Dr. Jack Kreindler, and Liis Narusk. The startup develops a platform that improves communication between doctors and patients by blending medical insights with advanced technology.
  • The platform has supported over 110 clinics, over 900 clinicians, and 300,000 patients. Certific has gained a 28% market share in Estonia and received high praise from clients, achieving an average rating of 4.8 out of 5.

Details of the deal

  • The funding round was co-led by Change Ventures, a Tallinn-based venture capital firm that invests in Baltic founders, focusing on entrepreneurs from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, with investment amounts ranging from €100,000 to €500,000 for pre-seed tech startups.
  • FIRSTPICK, a Vilnius-based venture capital firm, invests in the Baltic tech startups across various sectors, including fintech, SaaS, deeptech, and consumer marketplaces. HEARTFELT_, a venture capital firm that invests in European pre-seed startups, also co-led the round.

"We are excited to expand our Estonian portfolio with the addition of Certific. They are tackling a critical challenge in the healthcare industry—reducing the documentation burden on clinicians based on their first-hand experiences. We are proud to co-lead this round and support them in building another category-defining company from the Baltics,” claims Andra Bagdonaite, partner at Lithuanian VC firm FIRSTPICK.

  • Along with the current round, Certific has welcomed three co-founders to its leadership team: Helena Volmer, who is in charge of Operations and Sales, Dr. Andres Lasn, the Medical Director, and Keir Volas, the Technology and Product Lead, alongside Liis Narusk. Original co-founders Taavet Hinrikus and Dr. Jack Kreindler will remain as advisors.
  • Using the proceeds, Certific plans to expand into new markets and enhance its platform for doctors, nurses, and patients.
