Warsaw-based sports tech startup ReSpo.Vision, which creates 3D sports experiences and insights using AI and computer vision, has secured $5 million in seed funding from Vinci S.A., Smartlink Partners, and business angels through the Vestbee Syndicate.
- Founded in 2020 by Mateusz Szala, Wojciech Rosiński, Łukasz Grad, and Pawel Osterreicher, ReSpo.Vision develops advanced AI and computer vision technology to revolutionize sports analytics and fan engagement.
- The company’s core innovation is a state-of-the-art single-camera 3D tracking system that extracts detailed player and ball data from any match video without the need for expensive hardware like GPS sensors or multiple cameras.
- This technology enables sports teams, leagues, broadcasters, and sportsbooks to access elite-level performance analytics, tactical insights, and immersive 3D visualizations that were previously limited to top-tier organizations with large budgets.
- The company’s technology has already been deployed across major competitions such as Concacaf tournaments and supported clubs like Wisła Kraków in their competitive success.
In July 2024, ReSpo.Vision was selected by the jury of the Vestbee Summer Pitch CEE as one of the top ten startups invited to present its solution directly to leading international venture capital funds.
Details of the deal
- The investment was backed by Vinci S.A., a subsidiary of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK), a state-owned development bank in Poland. Another investor is Smartlink Partners, a VC firm established with the support of JR Holding ASI, a prominent Polish investment company.
- Business angels joined the round through the Vestbee Syndicate, co-led by Marcin Łączyński, GP of Next Road Ventures, and Paweł Maj.
- The fresh funding will enable the startup to scale its proprietary tracking system to more leagues and markets, expand its engineering and AI teams, and accelerate product development for broadcasters and analysts.
- Additionally, ReSpo.Vision aims to launch new fan-facing experiences, and deepen our presence in global football, from elite to grassroots.
"Building a deep tech company in sports can feel like blazing a trail through the dense Amazon rainforest or the Darien Gap. But our belief that technology can reshape how we play, watch, and understand the game is what keeps us going," claims Pawel Osterreicher, co-founder and CEO of ReSpo.Vision.
