Top European funding rounds closed in April 2024

Every month, Vestbee compiles a list of the most significant financial rounds closed in Central and Eastern Europe and the broader European region. Recently, we published a selection of 12 startups from CEE that secured funding in April, providing details on each deal. HysetCo, €200M in a Series A round 

Location: France

French hydrogen mobility firm HysetCo offers fuel-cell cars and vans for taxis and commercial fleets to support electric transport. The startup has secured €200 million in a Series A round led by Hy24, making Hy24 the major shareholder. This capital will help HysetCo expand in France and across Europe.  

Tree Energy Solutions, €140M in a Series C round

Brussels-based Tree Energy Solution is a sustainable energy company that specializes in producing electric natural gas generated from green hydrogen. The startup has secured €140 million in a Series C round to expand the company's global portfolio of large-scale e-NG development projects and further work on the green energy hub in the port of Wilhelmshaven, Germany. 

Pigment, €133M in a Series D round

French business forecasting platform Pigment has raised €133 million in a Series D led by ICONIQ Growth and Sandberg Bernthal Venture Partners. The capital will help Pigment to work on developing its planning platform and accelerate its investments in generative AI. 

Parloa, €61.7M in a Series B round

Berlin-based Parloa is a dialogue-based AI platform that enables businesses to remotely manage their client service channels. The startup has secured €61.7 million in a Series B round led by Altimeter Capital. With the investment, Parloa plans to expand in new markets including the US and further develop its AI platform.  

GridBeyond, €52M in Series C round  

Location: Ireland 

Founded in: 2007

Irish GridBeyond is an analysis and asset management startup for the energy sector. In April, the startup secured €52 million in Series C round to expand in the US and enter new markets globally and develop its platform. 

Tines, €46.4M in Series B round

Dublin-based Tines develops a platform focused on automating and streamlining workflows for teams. The company has secured €46.4 million in a Series B funding round. The fresh funds will support Tines in expanding its automation platform into applications in infrastructure, engineering, and product development. 

Flatpay, €45M in Series B round 

Location: Denmark

Herlev-based fintech Flatpay offers payment software services for small and medium-sized companies. The startup has secured €45 million in Series B round led by Dawn Capital. The funding will be used to support Flatpay's  growth.

MARKT-PILOT, €40M in Series A round

German MARKT-PILOT is a software development startup that aims to help machine producers improve their spare parts business based on market pricing. The startup has raised €40 million in Series A round led by Insight partners with participation of Capnamic Ventures. The capital will help MARKT-PILOT to expand in the US and across Europe.  

FlexAI, €28.5M in seed round

Paris-based FlexAI offers tools and resources for improving computer infrastructure to support large language models (LLMs) and other AI development requirements. It has secured €28.5 million in a seed round to further assist firms in accessing and utilizing the computational resources required for generative AI applications and projects. 

Onego Bio, €27M in Series A round

Helsinki-based food biotech startup Onego Bio has secured €27 million in Series A round led by NordicNinja VC. The startup plans to sustain its North American go-to-market plan, expand its team, and enhance its technology for animal-free egg production. 

ONUM, €25.8M in Series A round  

Location: Spain 

Founded in: 2022

Spanish data tracking platform ONUM has secured €25.8 million in Series A round backed by Dawn Capital, Insight Partners, and Kibo Ventures. The capital will aid ONUM to expand its team and enter the US market. 

Payflows, €25M in Series A round

French Payflows is an AI-powered SaaS finance platform that manages data collection, reporting, and assessments to assist businesses in lowering expenses and streamlining operational cash flows. The startup has raised €25 million in Series A round to further develop its platform. 

Finmid, €23M in Series A round

Berlin-based platform Finmid merges financial services into products via a single integration without regulatory restrictions, allowing companies to sell financial products like loans to consumers. The startup has secured €23 million in Series A funding round to develop its financial B2B platform and expand across Europe. 

Basemark, €22M in Series B round

Helsinki-based automotive AR startup Basemark provides a platform that enables original equipment manufacturers to develop personalized AR applications for use in vehicles, spanning navigation, infotainment, and driver assistance functionalities. This. Series B investment will support Basemark's expansion into new markets, particularly in China, Japan, and South Korea, while also strengthening its partnerships and operations with OEMs across Europe and the US. 

Theolytics, €22.1M

Oxford-based clinical stage biotech startup Theolytics has secured €22.1 million funding to help the firm improve its position as it takes its main oncolytic adenovirus, THEO-260, into clinical trials in ovarian cancer planned for this year.

London-based financial service startup Wagestream provides employees with an app to deposit their earned pay into their accounts and help manage user’s finances, payments and loans. It has raised €20.4 million to improve its financial platform by adding credit-builder cards, shopping discounts, loans, and AI-driven financial coaching. 

Proxima Fusion, €20M in seed round

This funding will support Proxima Fusion in developing power plants using stellarators to create magnetic fields for high-energy particles. The startup aims to build the first generation of fusion power plants using quasi-isodynamic (QI) stellarators and high-temperature superconductors. 

Mimo €18.1M in Series A round

London-based financial service Mimo has raised €18.1 million in Series A funding to launch the platform, which helps users manage payments and cash flow by tracking expenses and categorizing transactions.

Berlin-based fintech startup Pliant develops an app that offers tailored payment solutions and helps businesses track their spending. The app allows companies to issue both physical and virtual credit cards, manage payment procedures, and monitor expenses. The startup has raised €18 million in Series A funding to further develop its platform and expand into new markets.  

Centrifuge, €13.9M in Series A round

Montpellier-based cybersecurity platform BforeAI has secured €13.9 million in Series A funding, with SYN Ventures leading the investment round. This capital will help BforeAI to expand its marketing efforts and broaden the reach of its platform to a wider user base. 

Red Rover, €14M in Series A round

Pactio, €12.8M in Series A round

London-based fintech startup Pactio specializes in software that changes the management of venture capital deals. The startup has secured €12.8 million in Series A funding to expand its digital architecture across the whole investment cycle and improve its AI solution. 

Prothea Technologies, €12M in Series A round

Edinburgh-based MedTech startup Prothea Technologies offers lung cancer biopsy and therapy. In April, it raised €12 million in funding co-led by Earlybird Venture Capital and Merieux Equity Partners. The new funding will help Prothea Technologies to work on improving lung cancer therapy and diagnosis. 

Infogrid, €13M in Series B round

London-based AI tech startup Infogrid that facilitates building management has raised €13 million in Series B round from A/O, Keyframe Capital Partners, Northzone, and The Venture Collective.  

HappySignals, €12M

Helsinki-based SaaS platform HappySignals assists firms in boosting their internal services by focusing on the employee experience through measurement and analysis of employee happiness and productivity. The startup has secured €12 million in funding to promote global expansion in the IT Experience Management market by supporting sales, marketing, and product development efforts. 

Seamless Therapeutics, €11.8M in seed round

Dresden-based Seamless Therapeutics is a tech platform that accesses established methods of solving severe disease. In April, the startup secured €11.8 million in seed round to further develop its designer recombinases, a novel gene editing platform to transform the treatment of severe diseases.

London-based Legal Tech Lawhive has raised €11.1 million in seed funding from Episode 1 and Google Ventures. The startup aims to help small businesses and individuals access legal help from lawyers. The capital will help Lawhive to expand its team, with current job openings for roles such as AI engineers and software developers. 

Zefir, €11M

Madrid-based fintech startup TaxDown offers a platform aimed at simplifying the process of filing income tax returns. It has raised €5 million in funding, and it will use the investment to further expand and develop the startup’s platform in Spain and Mexico.

London-based Condukt is a KYB (Know Your Business) provider that helps businesses solve financial challenges by performing a variety of AML (Anti-Money Laundering) procedures. In April, it raised €2.9 million in pre-seed funding to speed up product development, grow its national sales staff, strengthen customer support and success services, and address increasing market demand.  

Langdock, €2.8M in seed round

German chat assistant software Langdock has raised €2.8 million in seed round led by General Catalyst and La famiglia. The startup plans to use the capital to strengthen operations and growth efforts.

Guildford-based language sign translation software Signapse has secured €2.3 million in seed round backed by Soulmates Ventures. The funding will be used to further build unconstrained translation for sign language.

London-based fintech startup Fundpath has raised €2.3 million in seed round from Fuel Ventures. The additional funding will enable Fundpath to accelerate its product development plans by enhancing investments in its workforce, technology infrastructure, and data capabilities.  

Cultimate Foods, €2.3M in seed round

In April, it secured €2 million in seed funding to assist the Vienna-based firms with creating Medical Large Language Models.
